Can I make a local map out of a series of latitude and longitude pairs?

I have a trouncer on a train that lets me log latitude and longitude pairs every second or so. I'm trying to plot all these points on a city map, like that of Google maps, so that it'll show the path of the train. It would be nice to have control over these points so I can change the colour for certain points where there are bumps in the rail.
