How do you convert british grid reference numbers into longnitude and latitude (ie for use on google earth?

1. Go to www.magic.gov.uk

2. Click on "Interactive map"

3. Enter your OS grid reference (you'll see a choice of methods of entry)

4. Select a topic from the drop-down ("Administrative areas" will do)

5. Enter.



When the map comes up, you'll notice that wherever you move your cursor, the OS reference in full-number and alpha-numeric formats is shown, together with latitude and longitude.How do you convert british grid reference numbers into longnitude and latitude (ie for use on google earth?

There isn't a direct conversion method. The OS grid has a pair of letters to identify grids.

The best way would be to know roughly where you want to look at and go with trial and error.
