What does 45, -28 on Google Maps translate into in latitude and longitude coordinates?

Going off intuition, it's 45 E, 28 S. But the coordinates don't seem to match up with where the point is visually: it's definitely in the Northern and Western Hemispheres...

Could you please explain it to technologically challenged me?What does 45, -28 on Google Maps translate into in latitude and longitude coordinates?
a negative sign is usually used for west longitudes if there is not E or W and south latitudes if there is not a N or S.

Google Maps will dispaly strange results if Negtive and Plus signs are used instead of N/S %26amp; E/W.

the correct format for Google Maps is 45N 28W which is in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. What does 45, -28 on Google Maps translate into in latitude and longitude coordinates?
latitude north, longitude east.

So 45 degrees north, 28 degrees west (since it's given as a negative)
