Do you have to have a phone with internet access to be tracked on google latitude?

Yes, your phone requires Internet access to update your location on Google Latitude. One of the main reasons is the viewing of your location on a map on your phone. Your phone does not have enough storage space to hold all of the mapping information, satellite images, traffic data, etc., so your phone requires access to Google's mapping API's do download only the map area that you are currently in.

Short answer = Yes, you require Internet access (GPS is optional, but it will give a more accurate location reading/mapping if your phone has GPS enabled.)
